Around 80 people attend a Pegida demonstration in Antwerp

Around 80 people attended a Pegida Vlaanderen demonstration on the Place Henri Conscience in Antwerp on Tuesday evening. The demonstration was authorised by mayor Bart De Wever, whereas the one in March was not. The call to demonstrate was launched on Friday evening, as a reaction to the terrorist attacks in Sousse and Lyon last week. This time, the anti-Islamisation movement chose to work with police to organise the demonstration. “We do not want to receive communal administrative sanctions again. The important thing is to get our message across after the recent terrorist attacks”, says Kristof De Smet, Pegida’s spokesman.

Around 80 people attended the demonstration. At the beginning of March, 250 people who attended the unauthorised demonstration received a fine.
