A 29 year old Belgian tourist was hit by a train in Miami Platja, a locality of Mont-Roig del Camp (Catalan). The incident happened in the middle of the day on Monday, according to the Spanish paper El Pais. The young woman was killed when she was crossing the rails. The possibility of suicide was considered, but several witnesses confirmed the death was accidental. She apparently knew the area well, as her family has a secondary residence in the locality, the paper added. The victim’s identity is not known.
Walking across the railway tracks is common practice in the locality, El Pais says. The railway track runs parallel to the beach for two kilometers, and there is a pedestrian crossing.
