3 vehicles torched in Namur region

2 lorries were set alight in Andenne on Monday night, and a car was set on fire in Hastière-Lavaux, revealed the Namur prosecutor on Tuesday. Circumstances are suspicious in both incidents.  In Andenne (judicial division of Namur), on Rue du Rivage, the owner of the 2 lorries woke up to suspicious noises as the vehicles were parked close to his home.

He had a look but noticed nothing out of the ordinary. 45 minutes later however, he heard a crackling sound and saw his lorries burning. Firefighters from Andenne managed to control the incident. The deputy public prosecutor was informed at approximately 4:00am and asked the police lab to check for potential traces of fire accelerators to determine with certainty whether the fire was criminal.

The deputy public prosecutor was informed of a burning car in the Bois de Lens neighbourhood in Hastière-Lavaux (Dinant sector) by the Haute-Meuse police at 5:15am approximately. Once again, circumstances are suspicious as the vehicle was in good condition but the owner of the car had an argument with motorcyclists on Monday. She blocked their path and they then followed her home and frightened her by knocking on her windows. Potential accelerating products are sought by investigators as well.

The 2 incidents seem unrelated.
