Shopping centres in train stations earned the SNCB 25 million euros in 2014, Le Soir reported on Wednesday. Since it started managing train stations after it was reformed in January 2014, the SNCB has also been managing the shopping centres in the big stations. As well as traditional businesses, the SNCB are calling in more and more services (pharmacies, blood tests, crèches etc…)
The SNCB itself decides which type of business it wants in each spot. A tender is handed out, generally valid for 8 years (on average).
