The nuclear reactor Tihange 3 has been stopped

The nuclear reactor Tihange 3 has been stopped, GDF Suez said on Thursday. They published a transparency declaration on their internet site at 0.48am. It has been stopped due to “unplanned unavailability”, the press release says. It does not give any more information about the kind of problem.

The reactor concerned has a maximum operational capacity of just over 1,000 MW.

Last month, there was a technical incident at Tihange 3, and its production was voluntarily reduced to allow the replacement of a unit element.
