Belgium wins the international firework competition in Monaco

The Belgian company HC Pyrotechnics, based in Boechout (Antwerp province), has won the international pyromusical firework competition in Monaco, it revealed on its website. The competition’s four finalists battled it out this summer. The Belgian competitors, under the direction of Cliff Hooge, showed their entry on the 18th of July. Italy came second, Slovakia third, and Switzerland fourth.

The Belgian team won the jury over with its pyromusical spectacle “Mystify: A journey of emotions”, which lasted around 20 minutes. It included songs by Bruno Mars, Stromae, and a remix of Beethoven’s fifth symphony.  It will be done again at Knokke on the 27th of August.

Belgium has come second in the competition twice, in 1972 and 1977. The competition has been going since 1966.
