The number of arson attacks in Belgium went up in 2014

After falling from 5,098 in 2012 to 4,422 in 2013, the number of arson attacks went up to 4,589 in 2014. This was revealed through Home Affairs Minister Jan Jambon’s answer to a written question from Koenraad Degroote (New Flemish Alliance).

The number of arson attacks went up in the Brussels Region (411 to 434), Flanders (1,459 to 1,539), and Wallonia (2,552 to 2,617) last year).

Town by town, Charleroi had the highest number, with 796. It beat Mons (695), Liège (638), Antwerp (426), Eastern Flanders (368), Western Flanders (285), Limburg (214), Namur (194), Luxemburg (179), Hal-Vilvorde (139), the Walloon Brabant (108) and Louvain (106).

There were 7 deliberate fires in Eupen in 2014.
