The Court of Auditors has written a very critical report on the way Prince Laurent uses his allowance. It lambasts the way the Prince has handed in receipts for Colruyt, claimed for school costs for his children, and even put costs for a ski trip under his expenses for official activities, say De Standaad and Het Nieuwsblad.
Prince Laurent receives a 300,000 euro annual allowance. Part of this is paid as a salary, while the rest should be used for official activities.
The Court of Auditors is contesting a series of claims from the Prince, which he has put under official activities. The amount contested is not known.
The law on royal allowances was completely revised in 2013. King Albert, Princess Astrid and Prince Laurent have since received a living allowance. They must tell the Court of Auditors how they have spent the money during the year.
