2015 will go down in history as one of the sunniest years in history, according to the Meteovista website on Tuesday. In a typical year, Uccle gets 1,545 hours of sunshine. This year, however, between January and October alone, sunshine hours reached 1,600, meaning that even if the remainder of this year is cloudy, 2015 would still be considered a very sunny year, stated the weather site, drawing its conclusions from data available to date.
Even if November and December 2015 turn out to be overcast, 2015 will still be in the top 20 sunniest years since weather records began in 1887. And if the end of the year is sunny, then 2015 will move up to the top 10 sunniest years. The first 2 days of November have already been promising, with a recorded 18 hours of sunshine.
We got more sunshine than average during the first 6 months of 2015 and although the period between January and October was generally quite overcast, April and June were particularly clear and sunny. April 2015 was actually the 4th sunniest since we started recording weather patterns.
