Quiévrain alderwoman denies any link between Abdeslam family and local retailer

Local authorities in the border town of Quiévrain denied news suggesting the Abdeslam brothers, suspected in the Paris attacks, were actively involved in the management of a business on highway 51 between Quiévrain and Boussu. Quiévrain Alderwoman Véronique Damée (MR) insisted in a press release on denying information “relayed by some media” which said the Abdeslam brothers had links to the management of the local retailer. “The press mentioned a ‘transfer of shares and of the registered office’ of a Molenbeek business which ran the café at number 49 Rue des Beguines, managed by certain members of the Abdeslam family to a buyer who allegedly relocated the business from Molenbeek to Quiévrain,” said Véronique Damée in a press release.

“The changes in the business were voted on at a general assembly at the Molenbeek café on September 30th, 2015, including the resignation of the manager and of his partners, the nomination of a new manager, the transfer of shares and the transfer of the company headquarters. We know nothing more! The Abdeslam family never ran a business complex in Quiévrain,” added Véronique Damée.
