Nineteen searches and three arrests targeting “black labour workers” in the Belgian construction industry

Nineteen searches were carried out on Tuesday in Belgium with a focus in Charleroi, Mons and the Brussels region. The aim was to clamp down on social security fraud in the construction industry. The searches led to three arrests, indicated the federal prosecution.

The three individuals are all main organisers and belong to a network that supplies construction workers by mediators and organisations that systematically carry out undeclared work. They will face the Charleroi court on Thursday.

During the searches, 88 000 euros in cash and several vehicles were seized. The investigation was carried out by the federal police in collaboration with ONSS (the Belgian social security service).
