Increase in littering fines in 2016

The fines for throwing cigarette butts, chewing gums or drinking cans on the street will increase to 100 euros as of 1 January 2016 (from the current 50 euros). The new regulation is part of broader efforts by the government to improve environmental awareness and fight against the most frequent negative daily behaviours.

The initiative was launched by the office of Wallonian Environment Minister Carlo Di Antonio.
