At a councillor ministry meeting on Friday, it was agreed that the military deployment on Brussels streets would be maintained following the rise of the terrorist threat level last year. This mission will be extended until 1 March. At the moment 1000 military soldiers are mobilized with 700 deployed regularly on the streets.
On 8 January the Belgian institute for the coordination and analysis of security threats (OCAM), decided to keep the security threat against Belgium at level 3, which means that Belgium still faces a serious threat of attacks.
OCAM announced that they will make a new evaluation following reports and information gathered by the security services without specifying the exact date.
