The minister’s council has decided to continue deploying soldiers in the streets until the 5th of March. They will go on surveillance missions as part of extra support the Defence department has put in place for the police, a Council press release has revealed.
As part of this deployment, a maximum of 1000 soldiers will be drafted in, with a maximum of 700 on the streets.
The decision was taken after the Strategy, Intelligence and Security Commission raised the threat level to 3.
