A second individual is suspected of having participated in the attack at Maelbeek metro staion, RTBF learned today (Thursday). He can be seen on video surveillance images, carrying a large bag, states the public-sector broadcaster.
Khalid El Bakraoui had already been identified as a suicide bomber in this attack, which caused around 20 deaths with more than 100 victims injured, as the Federal Prosecutor’s Office had indicated on Wednesday.
The identity of the second suspect is unknown.
The Federal Prosecutor’s Office, as well as government ministers Jan Jambon (Minister of the Interior) and Koen Geens (the Justice Minister), refused to provide a reaction to this information. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office has provided assurances of further communication later on during today.
