The Schaerbeek commune wins the 20th intercommunal Olympiades

The 20th intercommunal Olympiades took place all day Saturday, at different sites in the Woluwe-Saint-Pierre commune. The host commune won the Fair-play award, and Schaerbeek won the games.

One of the 19 Brussels communes organises the games every year. For this anniversary edition, the Olympiades returned to the Woluwe-Saint-Pierre commune, the first commune to organise them. Mayor Benoît Cerexhe challenged his counterparts to cross the Mellaerts ponds by pedalo at 5pm. The first councillor for Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, Eric Bott, and the mayor of Auderghem, Christophe Magdalijns, won the boat race in 2 minutes 34 seconds. Everyone finished the race in less than 3 minutes. The last two were the only women to take part, Dominique Duforny for Ixelles (2 minutes 51 seconds) and Françoise Schepmans for Molenbeek-Saint-Jean (2 minutes 53 seconds).

The prizes were given out at 7pm on the esplanade of the communal Hotel of Woluwe-Saint-Pierre. The even ended with a concert by Le Grand Jojo.
