Terrorist threat – The government wants harsher sentences for those who leak sensitive information

The government has had enough of sensitive information being leaked to the press, so they are pushing for harsher sentences in these cases. This was reported by the Flemish papers De Standaard and Het Laatste Nieuws, and confirmed to the Belga agency. “It was talked about during the National Security Council meeting”, a source said.

Earlier in the week, a rumour about a possible attack on a shopping centre and a fast food chain was published. On Saturday, Het Nieuwsblad announced that 4 federal ministers had been under police protection since Friday evening. There is a lot of frustration within the government. “Human lives are at risk”, it said. Those involved are not the only ones in danger; it is also dangerous for ministers not under protection and police informants.
