The winner of the Belgian Etoile de la cuisine 2017 will enter World Chefs

The Belgian Etoile de la cuisine 2017 will be awarded on the 1st of November, Belgian’s Maîtres-cuisiniers announced in their trimestral magazine MCM. The competition, which is in its 4th year, will see the three winners of the previous competitions compete against each other. They are Grégory Gillain (“La gare d’Hamois”, and linked to “L’eau Vive” during the previous competition), Simon Denis (“Le comptoir de l’eau vive”) and Sam Van Houcke (“Onder de toren”).

The winner will become captain of Belgian’s team for World Chefs 2017. The organisation behind it, which was founded in 1928, is having its next conference in Thessalonique (Greece) on the 24th to the 27th of September 2017. They will decide how the competition will take place during this conference.

The competition is organised by vegetable chef Frank Fol and experimental chef Pierre Wynants (“Comme chez Soi”). It is organised with the help of the Belgian Maîtres-cuisiniers. The aim of the Belgian Etoile de la Cuisine competition is to promote the best Belgian products. The idea is to include young candidates representing the country’s ten provinces, and Brussels. The competition is part of Belgium’s cooking week, which will take place from the 1st to the 8th of November.
