In the first quarter of the year, 43.507 new commercial vehicle were registered in Belgium. This equates to an increase of 10% compared to the same period last year. This emerges from figures just released today (Thursday) by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (EAMA). Growth reached 13.5% in the European Union with 1.17 million vehicles.
Compared to the first quarter of 2015, during the first six months of this year Belgium recorded increases of 10%, with a volume of 37,838, in the light-duty vehicles sector (up to 5 tonnes), and of 15.1% with a quantity of 5,219 in the medium/heavy vehicles sector (more than 5 tonnes). There was an increase of 19.2%, being a volume of 4,383 for HGVs (16 tonnes or more).
Only the bus sector, reduced by 25.1% to 450. Based in Brussels, the EAMA represents the fifteen main producers of cars, lorries and buses.
