Bonus bonanza!

Last year, collective salary bonuses paid to employees outstripped the €619 million euros mark, compared to €526 millions d'euros in 2014. This is evidenced by figures from the staff relations arm of the FPS Employment, published by La Libre Belgique today (Monday). Between 95,000 and 275,000 workers per quarter thus received a bonus in 2015.

Some 7,500 Belgian businesses resorted to this type of bonus in 2015.

These bonuses consist in advantages linked to collective business results, which are granted when precise and measurable objectives are attained, the realization of which cannot be guaranteed in advance.

Such bonuses are subject to an advantageous fiscal and social regime. They are exempt from Belgian employees’ and employers’ National Insurance Contributions up to individual amounts of €3,219.
