Provisional results for the certificate at the end of the first cycle of Belgium secondary education (CE1D), show the pass rate in mathematics is only 53.5%, and the average score is only 50.6%. This emerges from an article in Le Soir today (Tuesday). Abysmally, this is the lowest result in five years.
The provisional results in CE1D (for 90% of pupils), for whom entry into the third year is conditional upon passing this, are also disheartening in languages. The average score is 55.1%, although the pass rate is 62%.
In sciences, the pass rate is 74.7%, with an average score of 59.3%. There is some joie de vivre in French, where the pass rate is 86.5% with an average score of 67%.
