The Prime Minister, Charles Michel, is not “reassured” by the current developments in recent negotiations with Wallonia. These concern the free trade agreement between the European Union and Canada (the CETA).
“I have the sense that people are taking increasingly entrenched positions” given the opinions expressed by the Walloon government, Mr Michel indicated upon his arrival at the summit in Brussels yesterday.
This morning he said, “We have spent the night trying to find formulas and solutions to the problem. I have been in very close contact with Justin Trudeau, so as to further understand how to take account of the concerns expressed,” he explained.
The Prime Minister stressed that the dialogue was still in progress and that the moment of truth was nearly upon us.
