The Wallonia-Brussels Federation is negotiating a loan agreement with the European Investment Bank. This is for a total of 1.365 billion euros for the modernisation of education. Of this 600 million euros will be directly financed from the EIB. This is reported in Le Soir on Monday.
The Federation's Budget Minister has made no comment on the transaction, but the EIB has indicated that a transaction is now taking place for an investment programme aiming to “improve and modernise early years, primary, secondary and higher education.” This includes special needs units in French speaking Belgium. The project total will be 1.365 billion euros over five years, with 600 being directly financed by the EIB.
