Antwerp inquiry opens after discovery of baby in a rucksack

A few days ago, the body of a baby, who had passed away, was brought into the police in Antwerp by two individuals.
The Public Prosecutor has opened an inquest.

The two individuals are brother and sister. The man explained to the police that he had the body of a baby in his rucksack.

The body may be that of a stillborn child of the sister. It is thought that the man may have discovered it at home in a cupboard.

The police alerted the Antwerp Public Prosecutor who decided to open an inquiry. For the moment, no information has been communicated.

A spokeswoman for the Public Prosector, Sylvie Van Baden, said “We are exploring all avenues. She went on, “The formal examinations started yesterday.”
