Train operation between Ghent and Brussels interrupted: fire breaks out in carriage
A fire occurred this morning (Monday) in a wagon on line 50.

A spokesman for the SNCB, Dimitri Temmerman, indicated that a fire took place this morning (Monday) around 6.30 a.m. in a carriage travelling to Landen from De Panne, on line 50 between Kwatrecht and Melle (East Flanders). Nobody was injured. The affected carriage was empty and passengers in other wagons were evacuated.

The emergency services had to be brought in. Owing to the incident, train operation was interrupted between Ghent and Brussels on line 50, the so-called “slow” line.

The “fast” line, 50A, continues to ensure the railway link between both towns.
