The drivers in Brussels's Forest prison have, once again, resumed working. This has been indicated, by Filip Dudal, the Union Secretary of the ACV Public Services (Flemish counterpart of the CSC, editor's note). They spontaneously stopped work earlier this morning (Monday) to protest against reform of the law on private security.
This will, in particular, make it possible for private security firms to transport prisoners.
According to Filip Dudal, the Minister of Justice, Koen Geens (Flemish Christian Democrats), is opposed to the legal reform, put forward by his counterpart from the Interior Ministry, Jan Jambon, jeopardising the employment of drivers.
Mr Geens is due to produce an official communication later today the trade unionist adds. A dialogue is due to take place between the trade unions and the minister.
Dudal states that the trade unions are still intending, also later today, to give provisional notice of joint strike action.
