Belgium has two super-centurions

Belgium has two super-centurions, meaning people over 110 years old. Fernande De Raeve from Ghent will celebrate his 110th birthday on Saturday. An 111 year old woman lives in Ostende, according to the Belgian division of the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

The new super-centurion, Fernande De Raeve, lives in an old people’s home in Sint-Amandsberg near Ghent. She was born in Ledeberg on the 3rd of December 1906. She is the only person born in 1906 alive in Belgium.

The other super-centurion, Alicia Van den Berghe-Corveleyn, is 111 years old and lives in an old people’s home in Ostende. She was born on the 8th of January 1905.

The oldest man in Belgium is Jacques Clemens of Dutch origin who lives in Namur. He is 107 years old.
