Train punctuality: Bellot calls the SNCB and Infrabel to order
Bellot is clearly concerned that train punctuality has derailed.

The federal Transport Minister, François Bellot (MR), has sent a letter to all directors of SNCB and Infrabel. He is begging that they work better together so as to get train punctuality back on track. It is indeed rare that the Minister with responsibility for the railways communicates directly with railway company bosses, Le Soir writes today (Thursday).

In this document, Mr Bellot both notes the decline in punctuality whilst recognising the impact of external factors (the attacks, suicides and accidents, amongst other things).

He goes on, “Nevertheless, there are even more numerous internal causes for delays.”

“Whilst both companies, SNCB and Infrabel confirm that they wish to place the passenger at the heart of everything they do, I can only regret that a certain number of cases show that this same passenger is also paying for a lack of coordination between the services of both companies.”

Consequently the Minister has requested that the bosses of SNCB and Infrabel appoint “a manager for each line that suffers a recurring punctuality problem.”
