Proximus invests 3 billion euros in super-fast broadband
Proximus prepares to increase accessibility to super-fast Internet.

Proximus will invest three million euros during the next ten years to accelerate the use of fibre optics in Belgium, the business announced today (Friday). Proximus's ambition is to reach at least 85% of businesses and 50% of households.

The roll-out will start from 2017 in six towns due to get connected: Namur, Brussels, Charleroi, Ghent, Antwerp and Roeselare.

The investment plan “Fibre in Belgium” was approved yesterday (Thursday) by the Proximus Board of Directors.

The Minister for Telecoms and the Digital Agenda, Alexander De Croo, who is delighted at the prospect, had the following to say. “The use of fibre optics is a great leap forward in our ambition to elevate Belgium into the top 3 most advanced digital countries in Europe by 2020.”
