Willy Borsus seeks opinion of traders and citizens on sales

The Minister for SMEs and the Self-employed, Willy Borsus (MR) has created a specific e-mail address to receive comments from traders and citizens upon the operation of retail sales. He stated this today (Tuesday) in a communiqué.

The government, which is currently analysing the law on retail sales, wishes to gather as many opinions as possible, before finalising its position.

Questions being asked relate in particular as to the periods during which sales should be allowed and indeed the waiting period, during which it is prohibited to make public price reductions.

Borsus commented, “We live in a world which is permanently evolving. It is, of course, important to take account both of changes in behaviour and the expectations of consumers. Traders, the self-employed and SMEs, the beating heart of our towns and districts, must be allowed to operate in an objective way.”

Opinions can be sent in before January 31st to soldesvotreavis@borsus.fgov.be.
