Nine of the sixteen Winter Sports centres in the Eastern counties are accessible

Nine Winter Sports centres opened their doors on Saturday morning, the Tourist agency for Eastern Belgium said on their Internet site.

The snow that fell a few days ago (on the highest areas of the country) has led to Winter sports starting up again in the Eastern counties. 9 of the 16 Winter Sports centres in the region opened on Saturday morning. Botrange and Baraque Michel got the thickest layers of snow.

The snow was 11cm thick and good enough for cross country skiing. This is also the case in Elsenborn, Mont Spinette, Rochertah, Mont Rigi and Lomsheimergraben. The blue and green alpine skiing slopes at Ovifat are accessible, although the red slope is not despite the 9cm of snow.

All information on open Winter Sports centres is on the Tourist agency for Eastern Belgium’s website (www.eastbelgium.com). The slopes at Baraque de Fraiture are also accessible.
