Rock Werchter and Pukkelpop win at European Festival Awards
Rock Werchter and Pukkelpop snatched awards yesterday evening at the European Festival Awards.

The festivals Rock Werchter and Pukkelpop won awards yesterday evening at the European Festival Awards, which took place at Groningen the Netherlands. Rock Werchter clearly rocked being selected for “Best Large Festival”, a category for which Dour and Tomorrowland were also nominated.

The Flemish University UCLL, Eneco and Pukkelpop received the “Brand Activation Award” for creating a “green” platform on the festival site, fed by a Smart Energy Grid

This ecological platform was located within the Baraque Futur (future booth), the “experimental” part of the festival.

The Les TransArdentes festival, in Liège, scooped the award for best indoor festival last year, for which it was nominated again at the Festival Awards this year. However, Germany's Reeperbahn Festival rocked up to take the award in this category.

The [PIAS] Nites, Extrema Noir and the leper Hardcore Fest were also included this year in the Belgian nominees, respectively within the categories Best Indoor Festival, Best New Festival and Green Operations.
