Tax authorities to carry out systematic checks of landlords with Airbnb entries
The tax authorities will soon begin systematic checks on property owners on the Airbnb website.

L'Echo is reporting today (Tuesday) that the tax authorities will soon begin systematic checks on property owners on the Airbnb website. They will soon take action against those who do not declare rental income earned through using the famous platform. Francis Adyns, the spokesman for FPS Finance explained this to L'Echo.

Inspectors could use information gathered by “smart” data collection programmes capable of identifying individuals leasing a property, as well as the tax due. The tax authorities also intend to ask Airbnb directly to supply information about given rented properties.

Landlords caught red-handed risk fines of up to 1,250 euros and/or tax increases of 200% on the amount of tax evaded.
