More than €170 million repatriated in Belgium in 2016
The tax regularisation campaign - the declaration of financial assets - has already allowed for the repatriation of €170 million hidden abroad over a period of five months.

The tax regularisation campaign, known as the declaration of financial assets, or DLU “quater” is currently under way. It has already allowed for the repatriation of €170 million hidden abroad during a period of five months. This is reported in La Libre Belgique today (Friday). The average amount repatriated per case is clearly higher than in the past.

“In 2016, there were 336 cases with a total of €171,769,867.91 declared.” This response by the Minister of Finance, Johan Van Overtveldt (New flemish Alliance), resulted from a written parliamentary question by the deputy, Peter Vanvelthoven (from the Alternative Socialist party).

This DLU was set in motion on August 1st and has no time limit, in contrast to the three previous DLUs.

The average amount declared per case was €511,220. This is clearly more than the second and third operations, per data supplied by the Minister.
