A motorist crashed into the central lane of the E42 motorway near Verlaine (km 16.1) at around 5pm on Saturday. He was heading towards Liège, according to the Hemeco (Hesbaye Meuse Condroz) fire department. The driver, who is in his 40s, suffered a head injury and had to be cut out of the wreckage. It remains to be seen whether he will pull through. He was rushed to the Saint-Joseph hospital in Liège in an ambulance.
Traffic from Namur to Liège has been diverted through the Verlaine carpark. The diversion was still in place at 6.30pm.
