A notice of strike has been published by the inter-municipal organisation, Publifin, as well as its subsidiary Nethys. Gaston Merkelbach, the Liège Secretary General of the CSC Belgium Public Services (“CSC”) has announced this.
He confirmed the holding of strike action, taking the form of a “common front”, with the CGSP union. At this point he did not go into any further details as to the form the strike action will take.
Gaston Merkelbach explained, “This notice of strike follows increasing unrest within the inter-municipal organisation Publifin and its subsidiaries.” He went on, “We wish to send out a strong signal to denounce the practices of a small number of individuals, which is impacting on thousands of workers.”
Since the beginning of the scandal concerning the inter-municipal organisation, the CSC General Secretary has lamented a heavy and suffocating atmosphere within the business.
He hopes to turn the page on what he describes as a deplorable episode.
With this in mind, the CSC wishes that the Publifin inter-municipal organisation combined with the limited company Nethys be renamed Publinet.
This organisation will strive for greater management transparency as well as an increased focus on community service provision. At the same time it must remain a strong and innovative inter-municipal organisation.
