An individual armed with an axe robs a café in Liège

There was a violent robbery at a café in Liège on Friday morning. The robber was wielding an axe. He was arrested and taken into custody, the Liège Prosecutor’s Office revealed on Friday.

The suspect burst into the café in rue de Hesbaye when it opened at around 9am. He threatened a member of staff with an axe, and forced them to give him the contents of the till. He then left with a small amount of money, as the café had only just opened.

No-one was injured. Thanks to the perpetrator’s signals, investigators were able to make an arrest quickly. He was taken into custody and sent before the Liège Prosecutor’s Office late on Friday.
