Police vehicle accident in Brussels leaves two seriously injured

An accident involving a motorcycle and a police vehicle took place yesterday (Tuesday), around 9.30 p.m. on Avenue Louise in Brussels. The Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office indicated this later in the evening. The motorcyclist and his passenger were taken to hospital, both seriously injured. One of the victims is in a critical condition.

The circumstances which caused the accident are not yet clear.

A security perimeter was set up to allow for the necessary investigations. The accident took place in the vicinity of the Bailly tunnel, on the lane used for accessing the Bois de la Cambre. The police closed Avenue Louise to traffic.

As a consequence, the STIB network was affected. Tram 94 only went as far as Legrand, and tram 93 to the Stéphanie stop, following the accident.

Shuttle bus services were laid on as replacement transport.
