The Education Committee of the Parliament of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation approved, on Tuesday morning, a draft decree revising certain modalities of reimbursement of travel costs for the public transport of teachers and the administrative staff of schools. The text extends to include refundable transport tickets and the principle of paying third-party agreements for all public transport companies, and not only to SNCB.
Teaching, administrative and management staff now enjoy 100% reimbursement for their public transport subscriptions.
On the suggestion of the Ecolo opposition, the kilometric allowance for teachers going to work by bicycle should increase from 15 to 23 centimes, a tariff already applicable to the majority of federal civil servants.
The text, which is expected to be approved in fifteen days in a plenary session, will enter into force in September 2017.
