Heat swells the asphalt on E314 at Aarschot

The E314 Leuven-Lummen motorway closed to traffic at Aarschot (in Flemish Brabant) from 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
At issue: the heat, which swelled the asphalt. The Flemish Road Network Agency indicated that repairs were under way on the hard shoulder, so that vehicles could use it from this morning.

From 6 p.m. yesterday, all traffic headed for Lummen had to come off the E314 motorway at junction 22 (Aarschot). Such Traffic could rejoin the motorway by the access roadway at junction 24 (Bekkevoort).

At the time of writing, it is anticipated that only the hard shoulder has reopened to traffic this morning. This may lead to significant queuing in the area, until the section of road is once again operating at full capacity.
