David Goffin has maintained his 13th place in the ATP tennis world rankings. The ATP published this today. Goffin, who has been absent from the game since his injury at Roland Garros, will not compete at Wimbledon which starts next Monday (3rd July). He is due to return at the ATP tournament at Umag, in Croatia (17th to 23rd July).
Steve Darcis (59th) and Arthur De Greef (115th) respectively lost one and two places in the rankings. They both qualified automatically for the first round of Wimbledon. This week Darcis is competing in the Antalya tournament where, in the second round, he will face the Spaniard Fernando Verdasco (with an ATP ranking of 35). De Greef was eliminated last week in the quarter finals of the Todi Challenger tournament.
Four Belgians will attempt to qualify from Monday for the first round of Wimbledon. Ruben Bemelmans (ATP ranking 124), Kimmer Coppejans (ATP ranking 178), Joris De Loore (ATP ranking 197) and Yannick Reuter (ATP ranking 241) will compete in the qualifiers.
Bemelmans will play against the Frenchman, Tristan Lamasine (ATP ranking 196). Coppejans will face the Austrian, Sebastian Ofner (ATP ranking 215). De Loore will play against the Hungarian Attila Balazs (ATP ranking 174) and Reuter will challenge the Frenchman, Paul-Henri Mathieu (ATP ranking 138).
There is one change to flag up in the top-20 of the ATP world rankings. The Croatian Marin Cilic knocked the Canadian Milos Raonic off sixth place.
The Brit, Andy Murray, will start the most prestigious tournament played in Britain. He is the current title-holder for this, having won the Wimbledon men’s singles last year. In the ATP world rankings, he is followed by Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.
