The former Mayor of Brussels, Yvan Mayeur, received a €294,000 bonus when leaving his post as a federal deputy. This was a result of having spent some fifteen years in parliament. This is reported in L’Echo today. At the time, Mr Mayeur, benefited from a rule which does not exist anymore. Back in 2013, it was thus possible to receive a “golden-parachute” bonus upon departure, when leaving parliament voluntarily.
Between June 2014 and November 2016, he earned a gross sum of €9,810.21 per month, in addition to his salary as Mayor, and his earnings from his roles at the SAMU Social and as President of Vivaqua’s Board of Directors. In total, L'Echo’s calculations indicate that he earned a gross sum of €26,873 per month between June 2014 and November 2016.
