Belgian film “King of the Belgians” nominated for the LUX Prize

The film “King of the Belgians” is one of ten films nominated for the LUX Prize, awarded by the European Parliament.
This was announced on Sunday evening during the film festival in Karlovy Vary (Czech Republic). The news came to the Belga press agency through the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (FAF). This is the fourth film directed by Peter Brosens and Jessica Woodworth.

Three finalist films will be chosen on July 25th, and will be shown in 40 cities of the 28 European Union (EU) member states. A jury made up of MEPs will finally name the winner, during a plenary session, on November 15th, in Strasbourg.

“King of the Belgians” is the sixth Belgian film to reach the LUX Prize selection stage, since the award was created in 2007. “Le silence de Lorna” (“Lorna’s silence”) by the Dardenne brothers (2008) and “The Broken Circle Breakdown”, directed by Felix van Groeningen (2013), have already won this European prize.
