Forty breweries present at the 6th edition of "Namur, Capital of Beer" event

Forty breweries will participate on the Esplanade de la Citadelle on 7, 8 and 9 July as part of the 6th edition of the "Namur, Capital of Beer" event. Almost half of the breweries will be participating for the first time and the event will allow tasting of about 190 different special beers from Wallonia, Belgium, Europe and the United States.

About 16 breweries, that have never participated in the event, will be present, including "La Brogne", "Empress", "Brasse & Vous", "Beerstorming" and "John Martin". "We are particularly proud of the presence of the brewery "Het Anker" from Mechelen, which is well known in Flanders but rarely travels", explains the organiser, Sébastien Legrain.

So far, the event has been organised on the site of the Grognon. A change of venue is a boon for the organisers. "We have wanted to organise the event on a site like the Esplanade for a long time, not only for the sake of accessibility, but also due to space considerations", said the organiser, who hopes to be able to continue organisation of the event on this site in the future.

As for activities, the Namur group "La Compagnie Picole", intimately linked to the event, will be celebrating its 10th year and will organise a concert-surprise on Friday. Guided tastings, a blind tasting contest, a demonstration of amateur brewers and a competition for the best beer waiter are also planned. Entry to the event is set at 1 euro per day or 2 euros for the three days and shuttles (Citadelle-Gare de Namur) will be accessible from 20:00.

Last year, the event welcomed 10,000 visitors and the organisers hope to have the same success during this year's event, for which a special beer called "La Bière" was created in collaboration with the brewery, La Houppe.
