Suspect DNA corresponds to that found on Sofie Muylle’s body
Sofie Muylle’s body was found on Sunday January 22nd earlier this year, around 12.20 p.m., underneath a terrace located on the beach of the coastal resort.

The DNA profile of Alexandru C. corresponds to samples collected from the body of Sofie Muylle. She was assassinated in Knokke, as the Bruges division of the West Flanders Public Prosecutor’s Office indicated on Monday. The Romanian, aged 23, will appear today before the court in chambers.

The victim’s body was found on Sunday January 22nd around 12.20 p.m., underneath a terrace located on the beach of the coastal resort. The autopsy had enabled the determination that the victim was violently killed during the night immediately prior to her discovery. The exact circumstances of the death remain vague.

Alexandru C. was arrested at his home in Romania on June 26th. Following his return to Belgium, on Saturday an investigating judge issued a warrant for his arrest. As indicated above, Alexandru C.’s DNA corresponded to the sample taken from the victim’s body.
