A dozen Ryanair flights have been cancelled between Monday and Wednesday to and from the Zaventem and Charleroi airports, the low-cost Irish airline announced on its website. At Brussels Airport, two flights to and from Dublin were cancelled on Monday. The same goes for two other flights, on Wednesday, to and from Barcelona.
However, all Ryanair flights scheduled for Monday at Charleroi Airport were to be maintained.
On Tuesday, two flights are to be cancelled, to and from Madrid, while six are billed for cancellation on Wednesday. These are flights to and from Bologna, Bordeaux and Copenhagen.
Over the weekend, 16 flights were cancelled at the two airports.
On Friday, Ryanair announced the cancellation of 40 to 50 flights per day up to the end of October. This is due to a problem in the planning of pilots’ holidays, Marketing Director Kenny Jacobs said on Saturday. As a result, he explained, the company has too few pilots and cabin staff to serve all flights that had been planned up to the start of the winter season.
According to Bloomberg, the cancellations affect between 308,000 and 385,000 passengers.
