Islamic State uses Belgian domain name

Amaq, the propaganda arm of the Islamic State, Isis, has been using a Belgian domain, news-agency.be, since the 28th of September, De Morgen daily reported on Wednesday. According to Raphael Gluc of the Bellingcat online investigation group, the authorities constantly eliminate Internet sites set up by Amaq, obliging it to change domain names. This is not the first domain name ending in -be that the terror group has used, according to Jihad specialist Pieter Van Ostaeyen.

DNS Belgium, the administrator of domain names in Belgium, has set up a monitoring system to obtain data on domain-name owners. When data is missing or wrongly transmitted, DNS can suspend the domain name. However, it cannot eliminate a domain’s name because of its content.
