Missing teenager in Uccle – Firdaous, the teenager who disappeared in May, has been found in Turkey

Firdaous S., the 14 year old teenager who went missing on the 24th of May, has been found in Turkey. She was with her baby, who is a few weeks old, the RTBF reported on Saturday. The young woman has been sent back to Belgium, where she is still being cared for in hospital.

Firdaous S. left her home in Uccle to go to school on the 24th of May. There had been no sign of her since. Her disappearance was considered worrying as investigators feared the teenager had been radicalised and sent to Syria.

Her older sister had fought for IS in Syria before returning to Belgium. She was arrested a little after Firdaous’ disappearance and is suspected of influencing her sister.

Several papers said Firdaous left Belgium with a radicalised man who wears an electronic bracelet, along with the man’s three year old daughter. There has been no trace of this man so far, or his daughter. He is wanted for parental abduction, the RTBF reported on Saturday.

Fridaous was found with her baby in Turkey, where she had just given birth. It is not yet known what she has been doing since she disappeared, but she will be questioned as soon as possible, according to RTBF.
