Belgians are more worried about the Environment than Terrorism

Belgians are more worried about the Environment than Terrorism, Health and Poverty, according to a nation-wide poll. The Environment SPF published the results on Saturday. La Libre Belgique and De Morgen summarised the key points on Saturday.

1,500 people took part in the poll. Similar polls were done back in 2005, 2009 and 2013. 83% of those involved in the latest poll said Air pollution was their biggest concern with regards to the Environment.

6 out of 10 Brussels residents (58%) said they would agree with a tax on products that contributed to climate change. The paper said examples include petrol or a tax per kilometre, or a tax on beef or food imported by plane. 49% of Flemish people and 43% of Walloon people agreed with such a tax.

The most popular proposition to help is financial support for non-polluting or low-polluting products.
