Raoul Hedebouw asserts, “The points-based pension system, is a lottery”
Raoul Hedebouw says the points-based pension system is like saying, ‘Place your bets, we’re about to spin the wheel.’

The federal deputy and spokesman for the Workers Party of Belgium, Raoul Hedebouw, asserts in the Sudpresse publications on Monday, “The points-based pension system is a lottery.” This comes the day before the national demonstration against pension reform.

Mr Hedebouw laments, “Now during your working life, you can work out what you are likely to receive as a pension. The points-based pension system, is a real lottery. It is like saying, ‘Place your bets, we’re about to spin the wheel.’ You will find out the pension amount you are due to receive, three years before you do so. This is very serious for people.”

He goes on, “People are realising that their pension is being eroded.” He is convinced that there will be quite a crowd there on Tuesday. He feels that there are likely to be between 40,000 and 45,000 people at the demonstration. He concludes, “We must execute a renewed drive and inform people. People do not understand the points-based pension. There is a deficit of information about it.”
